About Me

Hi there. I’m Robb. Welcome to my own little corner of the internets.

I’m not the Robb Flynn of Machine Head, by the way. He has many more holes in his face than I do. He also has much more hair, and I find myself a little jealous of that. I used to have hair. Lots of it. In a pony tail, no less. Now I shave it most every day during the summer months and let it grow out during the winter. Sadly, it isn’t until January that most people notice. Actually, I’m a little jealous of that other Robb’s guitar playing ability as well. I don’t typically listen to that kind of music, but holy cow the man can PLAY. I have trouble remembering the chord positions, but by dog I will teach myself well enough to play along at a campfire one of these days!

ok… back to the Robb Flynn that lives here…

I’ve been around for just over four decades now and am looking at sticking around for another four at least. Too much to see and too much to do to stop now. Over the years I have turned into a bit of a wanderer, roaming from coast to coast for various dreams and jobs. Currently I hang my hat in Rochester, NY, and I’ve been here longer than anywhere since I left LA back in ‘98 or so.

But as the snow flies just outside the window I know that will be changing soon. Don’t get me wrong, I like snow. But I would prefer it for about a week at a time, intermixed with motorcycling weather. So I’ll be heading south soon, if not in 2009, then certainly by 2010. Toying with North Carolina and Texas at the moment, but northern NM and AZ are also strangely appealing.

A couple years back I bolted from corporate America where I was a project manager for specialty hardware and software company (ok… I admit it… I didn’t so much bolt as I was shown the door) and went back to school. I’ll be finishing up the Masters in spring of ‘09, when I will have to figure out what the heck I am going to do next (aside from move south, that is). See, I’m not a great planner. If I start planning, I become quite OCD about the details and I take most of the enjoyment out of whatever I am planning. Hence, I have learned to just fly by the seat of my pants. I find it’s much more enjoyable when I don’t know what’s around each and every corner.

And that’s me. I left out a ton of specifics, I know, but that’s ok. Feel free to contact me if you want to know something specific.
